Myself and 3 co-workers will be in Edinburgh on Monday for an Adult Learners Week awards do. It starts in the evening, but we're going through about 12, and will want some lunch. Anyone recommend a good place to grab some drinks and a nice lunch? Indian will likely be the food of choice but open to anything else

The awards are at Edinburgh Caste, and we'll be staying at the Tailors Hall Hotel if that helps.

Good move! I'll be looking for the best Indian in Edinburgh when I arrive in the motorhome in May

Indian in Edinburgh! Thats easy

I always go to the Omar Khayyam, Grosvenor Street. It is simply THE BEST Indian (well they say Tandoori) restaurant I have ever been to (and bare in mind I live right next door to Bradford!), I ususally have the Chicken Balti because I'm a bit boring but some of the other dishes look amazing, they have a HUGE range, it's a tad on the expresive side, but well worth it.

They do get busy, and I not sure if they open for lunch or not. Give them a ring on 0131 225 2481.

Let me know what you think if you decide to go.

Cheers

Cris.

Sounds good. Will give them a phone. It must be good if you travel all the way from Bradford to eat there

lol It is that good, I always go when I'm in town, which is about once every 6 months, it's a fair old walk from there to the castle, maybe best to grab a Taxi, but you'll probably need the walk after all the food!!!

Hope you enjoy

Or alternatively, if you want a more intimate (ie quite small but superb family run) restaurant, cross the road from the Omar and go to the Khukhuri Nepalese restaurant. All your usual Indian fare, with some added interesting possibilities.

Try the Nauni Masala for a gorgeous treat!

For about 4 years I had nearly 100 meals a year there, and even now I get a couple of takeaways a month (I now live 18 miles away so it is trickier)
