I just spotted that the Rio website is selling Rio Receivers for $99. No mention if they're new, used, re-badged, etc. They've priced a bit higher than that on eBay, but now it looks like $99 is the deal...Here's the link....

Oh, and surprise, suprise they still only ship to the US and Canada. It's a good job I love the empeg guys, cos I really hate SB as a corporate entity.

Now that I decided I want to buy one, the website says out of stock. Do you have any that you want to sell?

I only have one, but I am not sure what I am going to do with it. If it's still in the box by the time the Cincinnati meet comes around, you can have it (if you still want it). This will be the 4th Rio Receiver I have bought and sold. I can never hold on to these things.

Laura,

Tiger direct are still showing them as in stock, they want an extra $30 though.

Thanks to both of you. I'll give it some thought. I may wait until September if Rob still has it and wants to part with it. Maybe I'll be just as happy putting my empeg in a docking station and using some powered speakers with it in the room I was thinking of putting the receiver in.

Which is bizarre in itself, given that they clearly haven't manufactured any new ones for ages...

I just ordered and received two $99 units from the SonicBlue site. No problemo. They look like new units, came with the HPNA PCI card. From opening the box to running over HPNA was about 30 minutes. Very pleased.

They look like new units

Are they "Rio-like" ones (silver and grey, oval blue power button) or "Dell-like" ones (silver and black, round black power button)?

They are the Rio units (silver/grey with blue power button). I was told a month ago that Sonic Blue was just liquidating some existing inventory.
