Folks,

I've just put an alpha4 version up on sourceforge and updated the docs and site. See http://triot.sourceforge.net . The new "Web Front-End" link in the banner gives the low-down on the new applet (I'm sure it's still littered with typos though).

I think this version is just about fit for general consumption, so give it a go and let me know how you get on. I'd imagine an alpha5 will be required over the next few days.

Cheers
Paul

OK, I'm embarrassed, but I had the previous alpha working, then it stopped working (presumably when I screwed something up) so I then installed alpha 4 and keep getting (wish I knew how to cut and paste from cprompt)
"trio.player.TRioPlayerServerException: Error connecting to JReceiver
Pleas check that JReceiver is running and properly configured.
at trio.player.TRioPlaerJRecServer.connect(unknown Source)
...listArtist(unknown source)
and unknown source for the rest
the:
by: jreceiver.common.rpc.RpcException:xmlrpc-problem invoking method [Drivers.Register]

etc

Any ideas?

Jrec seems to be working fine when I tell it to play a playlist within jetty.

Thanks.

Paul,

Thanks for the updated 0.1.4 alpha version. I see that the crashing during the shuffle selection has been fixed! I'm still working through testing out your new release but I have to say that all is looking great! Thanks!

Paul -
tRio 0.1.4 alpha4 ROCKS! I'm streaming internet radio to one receiver and listening to that one with four others. It works perfect and once installed is extremely simple to use. I can't wait for my two other receivers to arrive.

I just need to figure out what I'm going to do with the HSX-109

I can use the web interface on the server pc, but was trying to use on a different one on the network(win98), is this supported?

i will try trio 0.1.4 alpha4 with jrec 0.2.3 at the weekend to see if it can work.

great work.

Some folks have been struggling with this, but it works fine for me:

- you must have the java 1.4.2 plug-in installed on the other machine

- make sure you specify the address/name of the tRio Server machine in the address and the :8090 bit.

Otherwise, what are you seeing in you web-browser and in the java console?

In the "other enhancements" for this release it says something about :
tRio should now work with windows and router-based DHCP servers.

How do I do I get this working? Up until now I have been changing setups whenever the Rio got a new address.

Works great for me.

Although I can't tell you how to fix your situation, I can tell you how I did my install (maybe that'll help?)

I installed the first part of JRec (latest version) (did not install the second part )
installed tRio per instructions
and installed Rio Audiomanager that came with the Rio ver1.4

I've got a linksys cable dsl router that handles my dhcp.

So far, so good.

What you need to do is create a "reservation" for the receiver's MAC address on your DHCP server. You specify the ip address you'd like assigned in the reservation so that the receiver will get the same one every time.

If you don't know what the MAC address is, then you can:
- look in the original ARM software - I think it shows the MAC addresses for the receivers that have connected
- look in your DHCP sever logs
- close all your dhcp servers down and power a receiver off and on again - after a few minutes it gives up and shows the info on it's LCD display

Hope this helps

OK.. I don't think the Linksys can assign some fixed and some dynamic, though it is ok with clients that come in knowing what their fixed address is.
I'll try having the Linksys ignore the Rio's address request so the linux jrec server can assign it a fixed address as in the jrec install directions.

Paul - first, thanks for all your hard work.

I just got my first Rio yesterday, and set aside some time tonight to play with tRio, and have it working (mostly).

I'm running XP, and still have ARM (jReceiver is the next free evening).

I've got the web applet running fine, and it'll play songs on my HD just fine. However, when trying to stream, I get the following error: (this is only the first handful of lines)

A few questions:

1. Are you getting this for all stations, or just this one?

2. Does it it happen consistently?

Cheers

Mark has just pointed out to me that there's a bit of a blunder in the tRio docs.

The address for the web front-end is http://xxxxx:8090/trio-applet.htm and not /web-applet.

I'll update the site.

1) I only have one station (for now).

2) I am getting the error repeatedly (every time I try to stream anything).

Thanks for the help.

I think we need to establish whether it's just that one station that's the problem. Try adding a few more (Virgin Radio is fairly reliable) and let me know.

I tried it with the four "stations" that are in the web applet as default, as well as tried it adding a few "stations" of my own.

Same result/error each time.

Are you able to stream the shoutcast streams to winamp on your computer? None of the default stations worked for me but I used the new drag and drop from shoutcast.com to populate my station list with a working list (nice feature by the way).

Shawn,

Actually I was suggesting that you make sure the shoutcast stream works by playing it through winamp. That way you could rule out connection/firewall issues.

As for the trio and drag and drop, I went to the shoutcast.com website, and then dragged the" tunein" icon over the trio web interface and a dialog box popped up which allowed me to add the url without retyping and allowed me to rename the stream (eliminating in my case the number of users from the description). Good luck

Howdy,

I'm getting a crash in the trio server. Maybe this will be useful:

Behavior:
Periodic (4 times in 24 hours) audio stops from Player. Timer for the current track continues to increment, but the player is unresponsive (no button clicks can change state). Trio window shows incrementing Connections from the player, but no pickup. jReceiver does not indicate any errros. I'll paste a crash below.

Has occured once while streaming, and three times while listening to tracks (Genre on Shuffle from Jreciever).

Windows 2000 Server, SP4, 256M RAM, Celeron 566
tRio 0.1.4A
Jreceiver 0.2.5
Java j2re1.4.1_03

Let me know if there's a debug/log setting I can enable to get more data.

Bruce,

This is bizarre - it seems to be trying to open a secure connection (SSL) to your station or audio file. Do have any unusual security settings?

I haven't had much luck with the default stations... maybe too many listeners on at once?

Other stations have worked well for me.

Shawn,

Sorry, but I'm running out of ideas as to what your problem might be. I tried one of your stations and it worked just fine for me. And so it's got to be something to do with your set up.

When you say that it's working through winamp, is this from the same machine that the tRio server is running on?

The last resort would be to run a network trace to compare what's happening when you tune in via winamp vs. tRio.

Cheers

Yes, Winamp, tRio, and ARM are all on the same computer (my only computer ).

Can someone hold my hand through a "network trace" as this is quickly getting over my head.

Would going from AMR to JRec have any chance of solving my problems? This sucks, because the main reason I got the receiver was to stream internet radio. I'm bummed, but not hopeless.

You might also wish to test Rioplay as its easy to switch out the receiver.arf file and give it a quick try. http://rioplay.sourceforge.net/

Wow, no weird settings that I know of. I installed JRE/Jetty/Jreciever just for this application. The machine did reside on a corporate domain before they closed the doors, maybe JAVA inherits security settings from Win2k Server? Someday I'll try a fresh OS reinstall and see if it goes away.

Another theory - my boot drive is dog dog slow (circa 1998). Maybe disk access speed is slower (while requesting detailed sorts of 80gigs of music) than the timeouts for tRio, and it's trying to connect to the drive via alternate methods (ala SSL?) Again, I'll see if I can find a faster drive to swap out.

I'll keep banging on it. thanks for the app...
