Now that I have a good reason to find and connect to my home network on a regular basis (I'm remotely listening to my docked empeg via Hijack streaming - a double thanks to Mark! ), I find I need a working dynamic DNS service.

I've signed up for a DynDNS.org account and it's providing DNS just fine. But my Netgear firewall that's supposed to update my entry isn't keeping up its end, and Netgear support has not been helpful. I have been manually updating my entry every few weeks; it works, but...

Can anyone recommend a good Win32 client that can run as a service on a machine inside the firewall to update my dyndns.org entry?

many thanks,

-jk

I use DirectUpdate for my host (ehost) and it has worked flawlessly. It supposidly supports a bunch of differnt hosts so you could always check it out and see. http://directupdate.net/

I too use DirectUpdate, and it's been working great for two years. Never once had it fail to update (and my BellSouth DSL IP changes a lot.) It runs as a service, so you don't need to be logged in.

Thanks! I've just finished installing and launching it, and it seems happy.
