Hi.

I'm at a bit of a loose end at the moment, and need a bit of cash as well. So, the obvious solution was to start ebaying some of the crap lying around the house, which I've been saying "One day I'll ebay that" about for years.

So far, I've bunged about a dozen thing on ebay today, and have a few watchers for some of them. The one that caught me by surprise was an old nokia 6310i. I posted the auction with a buy it now price of £25 which seemed reasonable bearing in mind there was no charger with it. About a minute or so later, I realised I had typed in the wrong filename for the picture so went to revise the listing, only to find I couldn't because it had already sold!. What the hell? Did I massively underprice it, or was someone just in the right place at the right time?

I mean, it was practically a drive-by purchasing, it was so quick.

I wish the other things would go as fast. Or at all

Funny, I just did the exact same thing. My first batch of 31 closet items just finished last night and fetched a total of over $600! I was pretty surprised at how high some things went for and how low others did. Somepeople practically got things for the shipping cost alone.

Patrick, that is one underpriced phone. It is not something that is widely known, but the 6310i has a reputation for being a fantastic phone. Long battery life, easy to use big buttons, clear screen, bluetooth, lots of useful features but still classed as no frills and no nonsense. People who don't want cameras, colour screens and annoying ringtones pay big money for mint examples.

Last year I sold my heavily used unlocked boxed two year old 6310i with new a new face for £100.

Unlucky. The lack of charger is no big deal as there seems to be a surplus of Nokia chargers in most homes.

My sister got a new phone from Carphone Whorehouse and traded her old 6230 in for..... wait for it.. £10! She didn't think it might be worth more, despite paying their stupid insurance rates too They are also still going for good money on eBay because they are really decent phones and I was mighty annoyed because I wanted one.

Well, I have got two more

This one was pretty beaten up, so I'm not too worried about it. It's been in the loft for a couple of years, replaced by a shiny new one I got with a new contract. The was only just replaced by an even shinier, newer 6233. I may sell one of the spare 6310i and keep the other one. I still think it's one of the best phones I ever had.

I saw a bloke at a car boot sale a couple of weeks ago who had about five of them for £15 each. Maybe I should see if he's still got them?

Let us know when you're ready to sell the prototype, immersive, hydraulic controled cockpit video game joystick screen thing that you may have under your bed. (I read that article so many years ago I have no idea where the link is.)

Unfortunately that ended up on the tip (literally) after Patrick left the company. He got some of the hydraulic parts I believe.

Absolutely, bought one last year for £90. Thankfully no more 6310 car kits on the firm now.

The 6310i was the last real business-phone, and phone-only! A year ago we desperately looked for them in the company, cause some died and all replacement was crap. Now we live with the crap...

I have kept my old 6310 and 6310i and still love them, but the 6230 and 6230i aren't half bad. Still good battery life and signal strength, even though they have cameras.

Yep, when Mrs. Boxer dropped hers in a vat of mayonnaise some time beck, they were going in the £90s on ebay, but then O2 sent me one for free - a phone I really cannot think of a reason to change!
