I had my first hands-on with an iPod touch in the Apple store in Manchester's Trafford Centre last night and it turned to be a bit of a shock.
They have 6 or so iPod touch in a row so I walk over and pick one up, start "thumbing" though music etc and it seems good. Then I hit the home button, open up Safari and stand there in shock as the last viewed pages loads up over wi-fi and I'm looking at MY for sale thread on this here very forum. At first I thought how the hell does it know who I am, then I realise it's just a major co-incidence, the last person to use that iPod touch and browse to a web page must've been a forum member perhaps?

My question - Did anyone on this forum browse the For Sale section of empegbbs.com on an iPod touch in the Trafford Centre yesterday?

It's a small world, at least I can now rest easy that the iPod touch's don't have a 6th sense and know who you are when you pick them up.
I thought it had to be a forum member, very few people even know what an empeg is these days.

Too true, I was disappointed to find that all mention of the empeg has been removed from the history section on the Wikipedia's Digital Audio Player article.

I might, though I got bored last time I edited the article, with people repeatedly changing the date the Mk1 empeg shipped to the wrong year.

Hysterical.

And here I thought Apple was Just That Good.

We knew Hugo was working on the project, but never expected built in BBS-name-to-fingerprint-matching.

And now I have been to it also

Wasn't impressed to be honest, internet browsing was annoying and I am not sure I like the screen flip thingy, i found myself having to adjust the screen angle to get it to flip. I also can't see for the life of me why it's flash based, that thing is screaming for 100Gb+ storage.

Also with that much screen wasted on the home page, why would apple cripple the device by not allowing 3rd party development. One step too for me.

I also found the nano too small to use and the screen hard to see.

Having said all that the new iMac is very very nice

Cheers

Cris.

If the "touch" had 100GB+ storage.... drool. I'd live with the rest of the Apple BS. Now, what are the odds of someone "rockboxing" the Touch?

Well I really liked it, the web browser is better than my N95 and my PSP. Multitouch zooming and being able to flick through on coverflow is really cool. Think I might be asking for one for christmas.

The storage isn't much of an issue. I've been getting by with 2GB in my N95 and i've always liked the integration with iTunes, so keeping it refreshed with new music, videos and podcasts is a breeze. Also I preferred the 5th Gen's styling to the new Classic so I think the Touch is a no brainer.
