I've got to write some software which makes use of CORBA. Anyone recommend a good place to start learning?

Corba was a good idea
I had to do some stuff in it years ago and found a good book in Waterstones. I can't find it right now.

It was big and had aliens on the cover.

That's probably not much help

I'll keep looking...

Not my choice I'm afraid, I've got to interface to some Highways Agency infrastructure. I was met with a look of horror when I asked wether I could just open a socket and send some commands in ASCII.
