A friend of mine has an EeePC that he wants to use to manage his music on his ipod. Unfortunately I am running Kubuntu on my Eee, not Xandros, so I am unable to test programs on Xandros. I assume Xandros can use debian binaries?

I already recommended banshee to him, but seems debian support for banshee is a bit poor...

Is there any way to purchase songs from the itunes store using linux? I have already told my friend why the itunes store is a bad idea, but his wife is putting pressure on him... smile

Any way to convince him and his wife to use the Amazon MP3 store? Odds are, anything that does work for iTunes is never going to always just work, as new iTunes updates may break whatever trick is being used. The safest way to go will be a WINE based solution to run the normal iTunes, but that even runs the risk of not working after an update.

Totally agree with that. I guess as long as he can find a decent app for managing the ipod he'll be OK with Amazon- well, apart from the fact that he is in the UK - is amazon still US-only?

I think the Amazon DRM free music downloads are due to come to the UK later this year. But it will only be for selected labels of course.
