I know Mark was/is a fan of these, which was enough to make me pause and consider getting one when I saw the woot tonight. I've considered taking the Myth plunge before, but hesitate at maintaining another computer at home. I rarely watch TV at all and want to drop Dish, but I fear this would just end up in a drawer and never see real use. Are these still the way to go if I'm looking at my own Myth box?

I no longer recommend them, though I still have one in very active use here.

The tuners inside the HDHomeRun units are simply antiquated by current standards. Adequate for strong local signals, but unable to even get a sniff of weaker, more distant stations.

Nowadays, my alternative recommendation is a pair of HVR-950Q USB sticks, when external tuners are required (eg. due to a shortage of internal PCI/PCIe slots).

Cheers
