Anyone in SE USA? I have a couple brothers (and their families) in central NC, hunkering down.

Both have large trees nearby, and live on hillsides...

My parents are in Hartsville, SC. Directly in the current projected path, but thankfully about 80 miles inland. Still going to get a ton of rain and some pretty stout wind.

80 miles inland sounds rather flat in that part of the country - flood prone...

Yes, the Pee Dee region in general is very flat. Fortunately, their house is near the top of a gently sloping hill, so they aren't worried much about flooding. They were just planning to create some sort of dam across the garage door, as the property uphill from them flows that direction. They've got their emergency kitchen with the propane grill and Coleman stove setup out in the garage. The weather folk say it could be up to 40" of rain for them this weekend and Duke Power is expecting outages to up to 1-3 million customers. Thankfully they have a small generator and plenty of gas. They're also on a deep well, so with the generator, they can fill their pressure tank intermittently and be fine with drinking water.

My mother was in Duck but they evacuated a couple days ago.

I'm in the DC area and people were losing their minds. But now it's not projected to come anywhere close to here and it sounds like we'll have some light rain for a couple days. People are still losing their minds.

That sounds like business as usual in DC smile

I have a friend near Raleigh that evacuated Tuesday. After driving 3.5 hours in a bunch of traffic, the path of Florence changed and she thinks her house will be fine. She is still going to avoid it though, since she is already across the state.
