Sorry if this has already been posted... there are about 100 new messages in bug reports so I haven't read them all.

I'm running MK2 with 2.0b3... There is a long pause with a blank screen (no LED either) between the animated TUX and the startup. Has anyone else noticed this. I thought at first I had a bad upgrade.. but the player works fine as far as I can tell it just takes a while. Note: I don't have any additional HDs.. and no other modifications.

It isn't too troublesome.. just suprising and perhaps a fixable bug.

Tom

Define "Long". And how about the serial output from the boot process?

One possibility is that (if I recall correctly), they changed the code so that it searches for a second hard disk a little longer. But if it doesn't find one, it sets some kind of a flag so that it boots quicker NEXT time and doesn't bother to search for a second hard disk. I forget the trigger for re-enabling the flag, maybe it was on the next synch?

I haven't seen anything like this, but if I had to guess...

It sounds like you have a blank boot logo, so when it's supposed to be showing the logo, the display is totally blank.

Just a guess, mind you...

Ok you got it. I used Tfabris logoedit to delete custom logos and now it works like I expect. Silly, really.

Thanks for the help.

if it doesn't find one, it sets some kind of a flag so that it boots quicker NEXT time.

It's supposed to do an exhaustive check every time when at home -- you're unlikely to add a disk and then put it in the car, right? Then it should save this value to flash, allowing the car boot to go quicker on a single disk.

However, I don't think that Hugo's actually implemented it yet.
