I could use some help with the script that controls what ip gateway the tivo looks to for internet updates. Can I change the file with telnet, or do I need to rip out the tivo hard drive again and run joe on my pc?

Thx for any help u can give,

Sean

Normally I would reply to something like this, but this is REALLY the wrong board. ;) Try http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/ or http://dealdatabase.com/forum/

Much better place to ask about tivonet issues.

You can edit remotely IF you remembered to activate a
shell on the network port or you have a shell on ttyS1 on the
stupid 1/8" stereo jack.

Hehe... I don't think it's going to be like that... Give him a break. This hasn't turned into AnandTech or Slashdot just yet. People will learn that everything is fair game here. Especially in the Off Topic forum :)

Well, I did message a few people who were offering to help - from the deal database board- , but havent heard back from them yet. I knew I would get a fairly fast response here and since this is a off topic forum, I thought it would be ok to post this here. Ill drop joe into my bin dir and see if I can get it to work.

but this is REALLY the wrong board.

You forget. One of our board regulars is a bit of a celebrity in Tivo hacking circles...

Ok I'm going to answer my own question for once. For some reason the tivonet script wasnt doing its job correctly. the route.tivo add default gw 192.168.0.1 command did the trick from bash. Now im up and running again!
