Hey everyone,

Delighted to have received my order yesterday! Yeah Baby!

No comes the install. I've done a ton of installs in the past, but right now I have more money than time. Does anyone have an installer they'd reccomend in the San Francisco area? I already have all the hardware, just need someone to do the mounting and wiring and tuning...

THanks in advance,

Skeeter

Congratulations! If you want to come down to Campbell, I was delighted with PSS who installed my empeg (and Alpine GPS) A couple of my friends are going to be using them for installation of "regular" stereo equipment too. They are incredibly busy, might be a few months before they get to your order - that was the biggest problem for me. Some problem! Cheers, Richard

DO NOT go to auto symphony (on Van Ness). they are a horror story, and i can sum up my experience there in one number: $2500 (the amount they cost me by screwing up my car's wiring on my previous stereo and refusing to fix it)

SF Honda was recommended to me so i went there for my Empeg install. but the minimum wage dork that did the install managed somehow to not figure out how to connect the (clearly labeled) front/back, left/right RCA hookups and the fact that the amp rca was plugged into a speaker out. took me 2 minutes to fix but i can't recommend anyone who can't bother to test it.

there is one company in the bay area - the autophile (www.theautophile.com) - they are absolutely the best (they work on cars for audio competitions, etc.) but they are pretty expensive. for example, one install option is a soundproofing foam they can spray into your hollow doorframe to muffle the echoes.

Whew, thanks for the warning! Auto Symphony is literally one block from my house, so they would have been my first pick without knowing more... Gulp!

I shot theautophile an email, let's see what they come back with. Boy does their site look good. Talk about serious installs! Not sure if I'm down with the $1,500 6" speakers, but I figure a quote can't hurt.

Thanks again,

Skeeter

As long as you have an ambulance crew on standby to resucitate(sp?) you after you read it...

Does anyone have an installer they'd reccomend in the San Francisco area?

How about just North of San Francisco?

Audio Advisors in Fairbanks, Alaska does all of my installation, and they do good work at reasonable price. Probably only about a 5,000 mile round trip... if you want I'll set up an appointment for you.

If you do a search on this BBS for "Monney" you will see mixed results at their various locations in the Bay Area. I, as others have in the past, recommend Monney in Redwood City. There, you need to talk to Leo Monney, the onwer, who will definitely take care of you. They have installed several Empegs in the past. Leo might even let you drool at his new Cobra.
