The unshuffle feature allows me to peruse an album in order and return to randomness, but I noticed that all the tweaks are lost when I do that.

It may be by design, but is there any way to leave the tweaked list on un-shuffle?

Just to clarify - I mean that the removed items come back. I.E. if I remove genre=country, unshuffle, then shuffle - country comes back. (and we know how much of a problem THAT can be! ;-)

You're performing two unique operations. And you expect a tweak to one to be preserved to the next? When would the tweak otherwise time out or be automatically turned off? What you're looking for isn't a tweak, but more of a persistent filter. What about setting up some wendy filters?

If you don't like country, then don't put any on your player. Simple.

You can use bookmarks - set a bookmark, unshuffle, listen to your favourite album, go to bookmark instead of shuffling again. You will be returned to exactly the same playing order you left.

You're performing two unique operations.

I don't exactly agree. When I remove songs using tweak order, I don't know why the original list of songs would even be preserved. Sort/unsort is currently constrained by the playlist, why shouldn't the "new" tweaked list constrain it as well?

As for country - sometimes I like it, but I handle this by "exclude as child" on a folder with country. I just have some strays in a Singles playlist. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood!

This is a good idea, but I'm not worried about resuming where I left off, just making sure that songs removed using tweaks do not reappear on unshuffle/shuffle.

Well, 'hate' button removes them from the current playorder (and so bookmarks should be used in order to keep them away), or Wendy filters can be used for a more (semi)permanent solution. Since there is a mechanism for returning to a given playorder, I think the shuffle functionality (that is, shuffle reshuffles) should be left alone.

But I understand you. Wendy filters need planning, and both unshuffling around a given tune and 'hating-out' of an artist or album are the things of a momentary whim... Perhaps redifining a pair of keys, one to set a bookmark and unshuffle, another to return to bookmarked position, would pay off if you do this often.

You don't have to agree with the facts. Doesn't make them any less factual. Sorry.

Maybe you weren't clear enough in your original post. Are you ONLY shuffling, tweaking, unshuffling and then reshuffling without ever returning to the playlist menu? ie. You're not reshuffling by selecting the same playlist, are you?

If the first is your case, then I can see merit for your suggestion. Because you can treat the list in memory as a "master" list - and the operations you perform to it should be preserved until you REPLACE the list.

This isn't what I understood from first reading your message. If that's the case, I don't know if it's a bug, just a different approach to implementing the current feature set. It would make for a useful suggestion for a future revision though.

Yep. What he said. :-)

To restate - I am NOT reselecting a previous playlist but turning off and on shuffle.

ISTR that it works like this (I'm sure Peter will correct me if I'm wrong):

The "Hate Artist" button only removes the artist from the current running order, not from the current playlist.

To clarify: the running order is a mapping from an order (i.e. what's coming up next) into the playlist. The playlist holds everything in unshuffled order. The running order is where the shuffling/tweaking happens.

So, because the artist is only removed from the running order, unshuffling (which restores the running order to the same as the playlist) will restore your hated artist.

This behaviour is by design.
