Ok, just started playing with streaming from the empeg using Hijack. It works fine, but is there something I'm missing regarding file names? Of course, all of the mp3s have names that the empeg understands but I do not. Surely, there must be a better way to find a file to listen to then randomly selecting it, or looking up the fid in emplode and then finding it in your browser...

TIA

Don't you get a list with human readable playlist/song names etc if you access http://<yourempeg>/?playlists ?

Aha. Ok, I didn't know that command. Where did you learn to do that? I scanned most of the streaming and Hijack msgs and didn't see it...

That is Hijack's built-in streaming support. If you're not using that, then you're not browsing in a streaming compatible method. You're just browsing the diectory structure on the empeg.

It has been mentioned far too many times to count. It's also mention on the Hijack website (on the main page). However, on that page it specifies it in the old way where you put "?.html" onto the 101 file in the fids directory.

This is something Mark has also been revamping lately to try and make it pass meaningful names to a larger number of player applications (iTunes should now show info beyond a FID#)
