sorry if the answer to this was in the FAQ and I missed it, but can I upload songs to my Empeg before upgrading to a newer kernel? Or will I have to reload them after? Thanks.

From the FAQ:

"Upgrading the player's firmware will not hurt the music files or the database of playlists. Music is kept on a completely separate partition from the player firmware, and this partition is not altered during the upgrade."
