When i was at the last Empeg owners meet in amersfoot there was a demonstration of an Mk2 running a Rio reciever.

Now we know that there is an amasing product being hatched in Empeg HQ and we also know that it shares lots of code with the car player it is suspected that the new mystery product is not washing machine but in fact some music type thing that might be able to sit on a network and serve some recievers

So my question is will the car player also run a reciever now or in the new futre.

Leaving aside your suppositions about what we may or may not be working on...

No, there are no plans to have the car player drive Rio Receivers at any point soon. There's not enough memory on the car player to make it worthwhile. It was a cool hack, though.

Cool enough to share it with us? The hack, that is.

Whoosh, blimey, what a sidestep!

I think he was asking if the player will incorporate a receiver as well as it's internal tracks database, ie. play from internal or external sources?

I don't recall us demoing that at the NL meet, which is why I answered the other question.

And the answer to your question is: no, not any time soon.

So what we need to do is hack the Rio Reciever to work with Displayserver. It could then stream the music just like a PC could.
