i have my 10 GB riocar and 2 big laptop drives. but no linux box, and no laptop IDE to regular IDE adapter. and i'm worried i might screw something up.

so, if you have the ability, i would pay you $100 to just set the drives up in the thing and get it back to working condition.

or instead of $100 if you have a replayTV i could upgrade that for you, since i have done that myself a few times :)

thanks
joe

You don't have to use a Linux box to upgrade the hard drives it can be done thru Windows. Have you read the FAQ at the RioCar.org site that describes the process of upgrading hard drives?

yeah but it seems like too much could go wrong for me to mess with it. i was going to pay Them to do it, but they wanted 200 pounds to upgrade it by only 30 GB, and I want to max the capacity.

If you want I'll be happy to do it for you for free when I do mine (or better yet; buy me a drink..) where do you live? I live in Mountain View/work in Brisbane.

I'd be willing to do it for you for next to nothin'.... i'd say for beer, but i'm a freak and don't like beer =]. Maybe we could work out a trade of some sort.

Do you just want to install the drives or do you want to copy your data off of the original drive to the new ones?

If you've upgraded a Replay TV... I'd wager you could do the empeg fairly easily. But, if you absolutely unwilling to give it a shot... i'd be happy to help.

maybe BOTH of you can do it, and it would be TWICE as good :D

i would like to copy the existing stuff over - about 6 GB so far. not a big deal but it will save me 2-3 days of ripping/transferring.

live in SF (Noe), work in belmost/redwood city (next to Oracle)

i don't drink and i am remarkably uncreative so i can't really think of anything i could trade. but given the need i could think of something for trade i guess :)

thx !

HEH! He beat me by 3 minutes! I live up on Nob Hill on Bush St. I'd be happy to do it for free... or maybe i could take that 10gig drive you're pulling out of it off your hands for my girlfriends MkIIa =]. Wouldn't want that to go to waste! Seriously, whatever's easier for ya.
