Surely it can't be too difficult to be able to upload a custom "static" image to eht Empeg.

Nothing fancy just something that is resides as a static image while the unit plays.

Sorta like the "Tux" visual, but with my own image.

Static images will eventually burn into the VFD (faintly). Might not want to do that.

There is software to do that; needs to be run on the empeg commandline though.
If I've understood it correctly, it's a binary player hack - the software scans the player binary for where the Tux Much image resides and then replaces those bytes. I don't think anythings changed so that it can't be used.

It's called setvisual and downloadable from Frank van Gestel
I think the README is out of date, but IIRC, if you run the program w/o arguments you'll get a help text.

Edit: If I'm unclear above: it'll replace the image used in the static visual (Tux)

That's the same bitmap in TuxTooMuch, too, isn't it?

I don't know, I've only ever just zapped through TuxTooMuch, but it might well be.
Lets start it up and take a look... Uh-oh... Just got the No drives found, contact support message :-( Second attempt got it going, further attempts doesn't...
Time to check if the connectors are properly on, or if it's a dodgy cable...

Be back later,

/Michael
