What is the "TP" that flashes in the top left corner of the display when in FM tuner mode?

Thanks,
Jeff

Not sure, but in RDS TP stands for Travel Programme (see here) which IIRC means that the station can/will send TAs (traffic announcements)

Here's another reason for a station by set the TP flag....

I think RDS stations also send out what type of station they are eg news, sport, classical, etc sadly they don't have one, teeny plastic manufactured pop.

That is what the TP stands for.

I'm sure it's "traffic programme", or it is according to the manual for my Honda CRV.
Not that the whole service is worth having, it either picks up reports from areas you are not travelling in, or doesn't give you the one that would really help you. Or the station forgets to turn it off and you find you're in the middle of an inane phone in, with participants offering weird opinions on subjects that intelligent humans wouldn't bother about.

All in all the only use of RDS, is to retune you from station to station, which is great in a country the size of the UK.

This is only a reflection on the RDS system, the Empeg tuner is no better, nor worse, than any other car tuner.

Agreed on the plastic pop tag, but the "program type" feature is normally abbreviated PTY. Here's a list of features and abbreviations.

It would be great if we could get the empeg to ignore traffic anocments from some radio stations as up in aberdeen "northsound" have this bad habit of switching on the traffic tag for a traffic anouncement but forgetting to switch off until all the adss are fininshed after it.

Yep. Definately sounds like they "forget" to turn it off
