I just received the best Christmas present ever! My empeg back from David! When I came home from work I was so excited to see the fedex box sitting there.

Now the problem. I cannot quit the player software by pressing q in hyperterm. I have flashed both b11 and b13 developer images, and with and without hijack. Pressing n as well has no effect. I have tried it on two different serial ports, and rebooted my computer multiple times. I get nothing on the screen. I do get the output from the player, it's just characters I send to the empeg.

Any ideas? Thanks everyone!

If you only get what youself typed it could be that you have the wrong cable (not cross-over or was it straight?), and Local echo enabled (like dbrashear suggested)?

The cable which comes with the player should work, at least with the bare player. I don't have a dock handy to try it with but I bet the FAQ covers which way the player and the dock are wired.

Is the flow control set to none in your terminal program? If it's set to hardware, it won't work.

Also make sure to read through all of the troubleshooting notes here and here.

Huh..!
You mean the 'q' command (and others directly to the player) work?
I could never get the 'q' command to work - but CTRL-C would kill it in a sec..

Mm.. Strange things are a foot. Or I'm just insane. (Money on the latter.)
Me.

Thats what it was. I had forgotten the settings when I got a new hard drive in my computer, while my empeg was away. I had checked the FAQ , but it looks as though parts may be missing... hrmmm

Thanks everyone for the help. Not seeing it in the FAQ threw me off.

I thought the FAQ had the settings for home use in it. I saw them for the car, and the config.ini options. I was missing the flow control set to none.

I had checked the FAQ , but it looks as though parts may be missing...

In your screenshot there are two pics missing. They show the HyperTerminal config screens with the correct settings (and an Important! note about the flow control...) See attachment

That is weird. So its not a error in the FAQ... (waiting for a scolding from Tony)... That would explain my problem.. I checked the FAQ first, but those images never showed up. Even doing a search for "flow control" brought up nothing.

edit: It looks like Zone Alarm was killing them. I also get the thing being talked about in the ZA vs Norton thread where I can't post, but this is with ZA... Maybe time to go back to BlackIce.

Heh, I can't help it if your browser won't show the painstakingly created screen shots with red arrows pointing to the exact settings you need...
