I looked but can't seem to find a solution.

I want my songs in Emplode to show up alphabetically by artist and each artists songs also alphabetically but the position order isn't that way and I can't seem to make it sort out with the position in the correct order to display it this way.

I realize I could make it do this by dragging them but with over 10,000 tracks it would take forever to do and I don't have the time for that in the first place.

Anyone know how I can do this?

I think that you end up having to order them manually, but, IIRC, what you want to do will be easier than dragging all of them.

Go into each playlist and order the display by clicking on the track name header. This should show them to you in the order you want. But they're still not in the player in that order. Now click the toolbar button that has (IIRC -- I'm not in front of an emplode right now) a double headed arrow and the letters A and Z. This will reorder the tracks so that the current display order becomes the playlist order.

If that works, it means you'll have to do it to every playlist, but that's better than dragging every track in every playlist.

IIRC is short for "if I remember correctly."

Ahh.

Well I've tried using the sort button.
First I sorted the songs and sync'ed it then I sorted the artists and sync'ed it again. It puts the songs in the position they were because it won't seem to change the positions numbers the right way.

Have you read this FAQ? Specifically:
By default, changing the "position" order of songs and playlists will alter their playback order, but not their alphabetical position in the player's "Playlists" menu. If you wish for the player's menu screen to show the playlists in position-order instead of alphabetically, there is an option in the "Configure Player" screen in emplode, on the Advanced tab. Turn off the "Sort playlist menu by title" option and synch. Use caution, however, because this makes it hard to use the numeric shortcut keys on the remote control when navigating the playlist menus.

Okay. I may be missing something here but could you not right click and select "Set Playlist Order" and then choose to sort by Artist or Title?

Still would mean doing it to each playlist though but it's quicker than sorting by hand.

I've been doing that. Ido the songs first, sync it, then the artists and sync that. When it's done the songs are not in order like they were before I started. It doesn't seem to change the position order enough.

Do I need to change that setting in the player config?

Is your player in shuffle mode ? I've noticed if my player is in shuffle mode and I run emplode, all the tracks are, well... shuffled.
I nearly gave up on this problem once, but after an hour of fiddling I found that this was the problem.
