Well I do not know what has happened but one of my empegs is going dead each time I boot it up. I get the screen telling me the hijack version and the player version and the last thing I see on the screen is 'starting visuals...'. Then it is completely dead. I have attached the output below. I am no expert on Linux but it looks to me like it can not see the drives. Is this the case or is it something worse?

I am running v3alpha7 and hijack 383 on a MKII. Actually I believe it is one of Mark Lord's cast off machines.

SN#080000316

It has been running beautifully for close to a year since I got it.

Thanks for any advice...

It sees a drive:
hda: IBM-DARA-218000, ATA DISK drive
ide0 at 0x000-0x007,0x038 on irq 6
hda: IBM-DARA-218000, 17301MB w/418kB Cache, CHS=35152/16/63
but not a second one. Are there two?

This unit only has one drive. I believe it is a 20GB IIRC.

I am also curious that it cannot find a file as part of an exec statement. If you can get to shell, you might want to verify your config.ini file.

I can't get to shell. It just dies. It is completely non-responsive and the drive seems to spin down. The only way to get it to do anything is to remove power and restart. Of course then it does the same thing all over again. It is a torturous, vicious cycle.

You need to try pressing lots of Q <enter> and ctrl-C commands to be certain that you can't drop to a shell...

Thanks for the Control-C tip Tony. I was pressing Q. I did finally get it to a shell prompt. I then tried Paul's suggestion from the FAQ. That is when I got this error in jEmplode...

I have screen shot the dialog and included it as an attachment. The error text is pasted below...

Greetings!

When you hit control c and ran the player, you need to exit out of the player gracefully and reboot, otherwise the network configuration would not be loaded. That looks like it might have been your problem with jemplode.

What's in your config.ini?

If you can't get to a shell, you ought to still be able to access the player's files via FTP or HTTP (assuming you haven't disabled those in config.ini!)

I think that did it. It now starts up and plays fine. The only problem I can think of now is that I do not know what the song was that caused the problem.

When it died, I was in the midst of a higer tier playlist that had a couple of thousand tracks in it.

BTW, I sent you an email. I recieved the tech support sphere yesterday. As the only adult present in the room, all I can say is...

COOL
