Tried to e-mail [email protected] yesterday and I got a return message saying it was caught in a mail loop. Just tried now to both cardispatch and carsupport, and got:

Your message

did not reach the following recipient(s):

c=US;a= ;p=CORPORATE;o=Central;dda:[email protected]; on Wed, 3
Oct 2001 23:16:06 -0700
The recipient name is not recognized

Anyone know an address that works currently?

Looks like its the whole site, 'cos support and dmoss also give me errors.

The empeg.com ones still seem to work however.

Funny, until Tuesday receiving and sending emails from and to David Moss worked. Tried to mail him back yesterday and first I get:

Next funny thing is in the details.txt attachment, notice the yellow line, hahahaha:

After that I get:

What does sensoryscience.com have to do with riohome.com?

Well, I wondered that.

Sensory Science are owned by Sonic|Blue as of June 27th 2001. It says here

So I guess the integration of mail servers went a bit bonkers.

..to say the least.

If you are experiencing problems, change the domain to empeg.com and everything will work. We maintain that mail server in Cambridge, so it's actually reliable.

That is more telling than you might think...

Bizarrely, I've just spent the last two days reading the microsoft point of view on network security, especially with regards to integrating new companies into the existing network.

Weird co-incidence.

If Sonic|Blue would like some consultancy, I'm sure I can manage to fit them in.

About five separate mail systems were integrated this week, and on the whole it works fine. The problem is that the IT guys forgot to recreate our car* aliases.

Don't worry, that's just the virus scanning machine.

To reiterate what Rob has said, all car*@riohome.com addresses are currently out of action, as are [email protected] and [email protected] for some reason. The right people have been informed so maybe once the US wakes up they will be fixed.

We run a separate (Linux based!) email system in Cambridge that mail is just forwarded on to from the Exchange servers in the US that handle riohome.com and sonicblue.com email. Any email address of the form [email protected] or [email protected] that ultimately ends up in Cambridge can be sent as [email protected]. Any mail sent to empeg.com goes directly to Cambridge so runs less risk of running into problems.

I may not be speaking on behalf of empeg above :-)
