Ok, if you read the bugs forum, you'll see a post by Roger asking for verification of a "known bug" in emplode 2.0b7.

When moving a track from one playlist to another, the track will vanish: It will be removed from the old playlist but will not show up in the new playlist. Further, the track will also not simply be unlinked from the database. It will be internally tagged for deletion. Performing a sync on your player will remove the track completely (yeah, DELETE IT).

So, if you need to shuffle things around to a different playlist, looks like you're best off using an explicit COPY and then remove the original for now.

Note, if you drag from the RIGHT pane to the LEFT pane, it always defaults to MOVE. To COPY, use the "COPY" edit command or drag from RIGHT pane to RIGHT pane using two windows (Window menu, NEW window command)

Bruno

edit: damned transposed charcaters. :)

Thanks for the warning. I'd been away for a few days having only just upgraded to v2b7 before I left. I'v just spent nearly 2 hours going thru all the posts. Take a break and the board gets so far ahead! AND this is the holiday season!

You can press the Ctrl key to force a copy, IIRC.

Maybe I did something right, but I don't think this happened to me. I know I didn't do a move, but a copy. And it's still there. It's possible I looked at the properties to unmark it and apply my change. This may have undone a delete?

No, it only happens with moving, and probably only with drag-and-drop. Anyone care to check if it's broken if you do Cut-and-Paste?

Any chance of fixing it quickly in 2.0b7a or something? I have not finished cleaning up my collection (a task made much easier with emplode_v2), so this is a showstopper for me.

Cut and paste also makes them go into never never land...I was watching it sync, and I spotted it for a brief moment saying "Deleteing...(song name)" so I guess it's gone forever.

I got it to move properly...What is happening is when you go to delete a playlist entry, and you hit that little checkbox to delete the file along with the playlist entry, it's remembering that...And when it goes in to delete the old playlist entry, it checks to see if you told it to delete the file along with the playlist entry...Quick workaround, go in and delete a junk song/playlist. when it comes up with the box that asks if you want to delete the files along with the entries, uncheck it. Then moves with work fine(at least they are over here).

Yeah, I knew that was what caused it about 2 weeks ago.

It's still a good spot, though, 'cos it ain't that obvious unless you're looking at the code in a debugger.

I'd fixed it already for the HSX-109, but the fix didn't get merged into the car player version of emplode.

A quick way to zap the songs deleted in any playlist is to use the "refs=0" advanced search, and delete the songs that show up there.

Thats what I have been doing, since the workaround of not having the "delete files with playlist" seems to be working.

Lets just say for the sake of argument, that I read this thread, noted it, and then went ahead and dragged and dropped between playlists anyway.
Now besides everyone agreeing that that would be a really stupid thing to do, is there any way to do an advanced search in Emplode for files marked for deletion?
And after finding these files, can they be unmarked? Or do I have to re-upload? (Lets also say for the sake of argument all my files are all at work.)

Just curious...

Maybe you could Revert Changes (from the File menu) instead of Synchronizing. Of course, that would throw away all your other changes, but that might be better than deleting files.

No, you can't search for deleted files (although I might change that), and if you do manage to find any, there's (currently) no way to undelete them (although I might change that).

Don't hold your breath, though.

Yeah, I kinda figured that.
I went ahead with a synch as I had made too many other changes to make it worthwhile to revert back.
I'll just have to remind myself to re-upload those files when I get to work.
Thanks,
Zachary

I have been able to bypass the bug if I do the moving only in the left frame. It's a little annoying, but stuff isn't getting deleted.

The reason stuff isn't getting deleted is because you didn't check the little box. I don't think it has anything to do with which frame is being moved.

Is this bug in b7 kernal or Emplode? If in Emplode, than JEmplode could be used for cut/move. Correct?

Right, the bug is beta 7 emplode only. So in theory Jemplode can be used, assuming it does not have the same bug . However, Jemplode does not do USB at this time, it's ethernet. So those using USB are SOL.

emplode 2.0b3 can be used with player 2.0b7 and does not have 'delete while moving' bug, right?
