Look at this. This guy is just selling a link to rio's website. I feel bad for anyone who doesn't read that auction to well and think they're getting an actual rio car player.

Holy smokes, thats really ballsy!
I can't believe somebody would actually try that BS.
God, I hope nobody bids on it.

Christ!! An empty box!??!!
Whats the matter with people??!!!
Every day I become more dis-illusioned with human nature.
Thats it I'm off to my compound in the woods.
Maybe I'll go and write a manifesto or something...

At least he's not ripping people off like that jackass that sold the empty box.

Thats true I suppose.
I guess what he's offering is at least worth some sort of "value".
Granted only to someone who is not smart enough to do a simple google or altavista search.
I'm guessing his "secret link" is to carplayer.com and not sonciblue.

I think it's cute.. Kinda wish ebay had a forum for each auction.. would make sellers less likely to get away with misleading auctions..

I think Yahoo auctions used to allow comments by members.... to "warn" or whatever. That could be abused too...

No, Carplayer has higher prices than what he promised. It must be Sonic Blue. But then again, they announced they are sold out. So he really is ripping people off!

I sent him a message requiring that the copyright image he has used in his auction is removed immediately. That's probably about as much as can be done.

I'd take a guess that his home page is:

you might get a better response if you sent the message to ebay maybe they would cancel the auction

It's written pretty clearly, so he might actually be doing it for the sole purpose of telling people that the players can still be bought "retail" instead of at the eBay marked up prices.

If he was doing it as a scam he should have worded it a bit better and made the dutch auction for more than 12 units.

It was still the wrong way to go, but looking at his page just makes me think he's a little too innocent to be trying a fast one.

Even better...
http://stacks.msnbc.com/local/KNSD/NBCFDGG0SVC.asp

About a month or so ago there was some jackass here in California who auctioned off Polaroids of a game system. The auction read "you are bidding on the Playstation picture below". Clever use of "picture" instead of "pictured".

I doubt he is doing it out of the goodness of his heart. Check out his auction history. He just auctioned off a bunch of 10GB Empegs. Looks like he ran out of units but still wants to cash in.

Well, I did write to ebay about it when it was first posted here. And they wrote back with a thank you, telling me they had just canceled the auction.

HAhahahaha.....good one, I guess it would show to some degree that you should actually take the auctions seriously. That if you bid you have entered sort of a contract to follow thru and pay for the item in question.
