Is the connector for the mic stereo or mono?

I'm about to build and redesign a mic (which was coming out of a handsfree-set) to fit into the car.
There's something like a filter or mini-amplifier or something like that connected to the mic. 3 wires are coming out of the mic and 2 wires are coming out of this mini-amp (or whatever this is).

I don't really know what for there are 3 connections on the mic (I think it is not a stereo mic - there would be no use for it)

Although three wires from the mic might indicate a stereo mic as you suggested, it also might indicate a mic using what's called a "Balanced" connection. It's common in professional audio: A positive and negative wire for the mic condensor as well as a third ground wire in addition to the shielding sleeve.

Also, some mics do cheap noise-cancelling by having a second mic facing away from the mouth of the user, and combining that inverted signal with the main mic. It could be that, too.

So, lots of possibilities. Good luck.

I'll tell you some results - with the plain mic and connected to the Mk2 as soon as VR comes available if you're interested.

OK! My mic is now nearly ready - I just need a shrink-tube. The electric part is ready and tested and it sounds quite bright and clear. What I don't really know is how near you have to come so that the VR-software will be able to recognize the commands.

Now I'll have to do the design things and the install in the car. But I think it should work. I'll post more when I've tested with VR...
I think that my be something of interest for those who won't use the "andreaelectronics"-mic.

I think this mic is cool for the car 'cause it's only about 5mm in diameter - so really very small and easy to hide somewhere in the car.

Another question to the mic comes to my mind...

Will there be a possibility to adjust the level of the mic (via emplode or direct on the Mk2)? Is there planned something about that?

The mic input on the empeg is mono, 2-wire with power on the input line (for electret mics). The gain is software adjustable.
