I am looking to buy one of those original Empeg Red lenses which are purported
to be a near-exact match for BMW/Audi dashes.

I am willing to pay 15 bucks or so.

Anybody have a spare one they are willing to let go of?

Does the lack of any responses mean:
1) Everyone thinks my offer is too low?
2) There are no more original lenses which people are willing to sell?

I can probably make do with an old Darkstorm Neon Orange lens which I have
sitting around, but I'd like to match more exactly.

Does anyone know how closely the Filener red lens matches the original
Empeg Red? (Or more importantly, how closely it matches Audi/BMW
orange-red?)

Here is my Filener Red with the dash of my 99 Audi A6.



I haven't been able to install it yet, so it is plugged in on AC power. The color looks to be an exact match, but it didn't seem as bright as the dash lights (turned all the way up). Easy enough to fix. But the color was perfect!

I have a Red Lens that I used for awhile (couple of minor scratches) that I am willing to part with because it doesn't work very well in direct sunlight and decided to use the Smoked Lens instead.

Hmmm, it really does look red.
My dash lighting is much more orange than that.

But dozen of posts here say that Empeg Red really matches an orange Audi/BMW
dash. And Filener says his are close to the original.
I wonder if my newer car has a more orange tint than ones of 4-5 years back.
I kind of doubt it.

I guess I'll give it a spin and find out.

Does your dash look that red to you in real life, or does this digital photo
"de-orangify" it a bit?

There isn't any orange in mine at all. I'd say it's a really rich red, the photos really don't do it justice. It really is a great match to my dash. Of course once I get it installed I will have to order a new one with some custom engraving on it!
