If you hadn't noticed, today was about the biggest day in history for purchasing pieces of Concorde (I don't mean in-flight junk like menus and tickets - but rather bits of avionics and engines). I'm glad I didn't bother going to the Air France auction which was utterly mad - 500,000 Euros for a radome, 200,000 for Olympus 610's etc.

I tried for several lots on eBay, where a collection of prototype and test era components was up for sale. The prices were a bit more realistic, but I still missed out on getting anything thanks to snipers and people willing to pay too much for anonymous looking bits of avionics. The best stuff still got good prices - £5,000 for a nose droop selector, which was probably the most concorde-unique lot. I'd have loved to have got the test windscreen, chipped by high velocity chickens (which was a thing of legend where I grew up, near to BAe Filton).

So now I'm even more depressed about the greatest flying machine in history - if you have any nose cones/seats/throttle levers in your garage gathering dust, let me know!
