I met a friend of mine who I used to go flying my glow model helicopter with. He has mostly given up on glow fuel in favor of electric ones. We were talking about these dual rotor jobbies and I was reminded of the on PCA had the last meet.

So, when I was at my local computer shop I picked up one of these as they were on special.

It was great for the 5 minutes it lasted, it started spinning out of control and smelling pretty much like burning electronics.

So my question is, mainly for pca, what is a good "proper" indoor heli? I like the duel rotor idea and esp the ones with a "ring" joining the tips together ???

Cheers

Cris.

Not available for purchase, but anyone interested in an indoor helicopter needs to see this:

The Pixelito might not be available to buy, but you can buy a helicopter that Alexander Van de Rostyne (the designer of the Pixelito) designed.

The Picooz from Silverlit was designed by Alexander and it is a great little indoor copter.

It doesn't have counter rotating double blades, which I think is good because the double bladed ones don't look like proper helicopters in my eyes. It has a small pair of weighted blades that spin with the main blades, which provide auto stabilization.

It is two channel, throttle and tail rotor.

Out of the box you don't get much forward flight, you can either add weight to the front (they provide stick on weights in the box) or stick a small wind deflector on the front to catch the rotor down draught when you throttle up.

I have even managed to fly mine outside on a very, very calm day.

It only costs about $30/£20.

If anyone buys one, make sure you get a real Silverlit one. There are lots of clones about and in my experience they don't fly well. Unfortunately there are plenty of people claiming to sell Silverlit ones who aren't

Scan had those as well, but looking at the website above it looks like they are fakes. I guess the one I bought is as well, hence I think I will return it for a refund rather than a replacement.

Suggestions of what I should buy in it's place ????

Cheers

Yeah, the one on Scan looks almost certainly fake. Some places don't even realise they are selling the fakes, as the fakes have come to them from the same wholesalers that they got the genuine ones from initially.

I got my latest genuine Picooz from this seller on ebay:

A good place to look for reviews and informed opinion on small remote control "toys" is here http://www.rcgroups.com/micro-rtf-420/

I've recently bought one of these http://www.stormlauncher.com/ though I haven't really had the chance to fly it yet, I have been charging around the driveway with it.
