Discounting knock-offs, Do different brands of solder stations use the same tips? Or are they unique?

Weller uses their own tips. That's what I have/use. Dunno about the others.

A (short length) 1/32" conical (as opposed to chisel/screwdriver) tip seems best for just about everything electronic. I have larger (1/16") and smaller (0.01") tips, but the 1/32" is The Correct Size and what I now use nearly all of the time.

Cheers

mlord probably does smaller work than I do, but I use the smallest well chisel/screwdriver tip I can get, as I find I get better heat conduction. I almost never work on anything smaller than a dip.

I use an ancient weller base that uses tcp tips, which are temperature controlled by a magnet in the tip and a switch in the handle. I've had it for probably 35 years and it was probably 20 years old when I got it. It's all I ever needed, and I do semi production work and even some surface mount.

I've seen Ungar tips made for Weller irons, but I've not noticed cross brand tips.
