Ok,

I just reformatted my computer and basically started from scratch. I have a 60 gig HD on which i created two partitions, one 10 gig, and one 50. The 10 gig was supposed to get Win 98 and the 50 gig was supposed to get XP. Unfortunatley, i made the dumbass mistake of mixing this up, 98 got installed on the 50 gig, and Xp on the 10 gig.

So basically what i want to know is, now that both OS's are installed, is there a way to transfer space from the 50 gig partition to the 10 gig partition? Or do i have to start all over again -- reformat and repartition? I am mainly going to be using XP, 98 was just for a few programs that i have trouble with in XP.

Thanks.

Well, I believe that Partition Magic could do this under certain circumstances, but I doubt that your situation fits them. PM can reduce the 50 down to 10, leaving 40GB of unused space. And it could add 40GB of unused space onto the 10, if it were adjacent. However, you probably have two partitions, the first one 10 and the second 50, so after reducing the fifty, you'd have 10/10/40, and you'd want to add the 40 onto the first 10, which it can't do.

I'd say that it would be easier to just reinstall, especially since you just did it and don't have too much to redo. I usually end up reinstalling 3 or 4 times every time, just because of doing stupid things like that.

Yeah it's good to practice and it's fun for the first couple of times. But after 50+ it's teadious. At least I was billing for the time.

You could put another disk in the machine, temporarily, and then run Ghost to save both partitions to that disk. Then you'd run Ghost again to restore them to larger/smaller partitions.

It might work.
