Alrighty folks, some people expressed some interest, so though it's a work in progress, i thought i'd link to the little site i'm doing for my cabinet:

http://www.underachievers.com/mame/

It's a Mortal Kombat cabinet that's in great shape, with a 25" Wells Gardner monitor. There's a ton of stuff to add to the site, but for now it's mostly a weblog of everything i'm doing to get the cabinet up and running. I've taken a million pictures, all of which need to be added soon.

If the cap kit and new flyback transformer i installed tonight work, then i should have the basic version up and running in a week or so. From there i'm going to play with the standard MK controls and see what i need to add, then i'm going to build my own control panel with trackball, spinner, and hopefully a light gun.

It's been damn fun to do so far. I'll post updates in this thread. Feel free to bombard me with ?'s.

Greetings!

Indeed!!! Very nice! I recently got one of the Shuttle SS51's and it is sweet. The heat pipe keeps it nice and quiet, so in your cabinet it should be silent. Please post some photos when you can!

maybe i shouldn't... one of the caps blew after about 25 minutes of play. Check my weblog on it for details. =\

i'm about to pull the board again and fix it.

Heh, sure it wasn't an old Tempest vector monitor you got?

Dry elecrolytic? I nearly had a whole station taken off the air because of that. Bugger....

nah, the cap just wasn't rated for a high enough voltage. I guess (according to Bob Roberts) that some manufacturers would modify the monitor boards for certain games beyond the spec for that model. For instance, the cap that blew was supposed to be (according to the monitor spec for that series) a 47uF 160V. The cap i took off was a 47uF 250V and the cap i put on was a 47uF 200V. I figured since it was only supposed to be a 160V, the 200V would handle it fine. Nope... blew up. The 250V seems to be handling it now. If that one blows... there's probably a problem elsewhere as it's getting way to much current.
