I drank Dasani once, noticed that it tasted like chalk, looked at the ingredients, found that it has multiple ingredients -- water, salt, potassium chlorate and something, I think -- and never picked up another bottle again. Why do I want my purified water to contain salt?

I'll stick to my bottled spring water. At least its natural.

Isn't salt a water softener?

Thats the point that so many folks who are in to spending all that money to buy it always miss about Dasani.
It is filtered tap water with added mineral, not mineral water.

Just an update on this - they are shelving plans to sell Dasani again, at a possible cost of £70m.

Meanwhile if you want to buy some, the gullible mugs who did buy it are offloading it on eBay.

What's wrong with good old fashioned water from a tap? It's all the same you know.

Why do I want my purified water to contain salt?

Because it makes you thirsty, instead of quenching your thirst and you need another bottle....and another....and another!
