Hey all, I'm frantically trying to reconfigure my Amersfoort plans to include a side trip to the North Sea Jazz Fest. So many great muscians all nearby in the same country right when I'll be there; I can't miss it.

Is anyone interested in joining me? Any other jazz fans out there?

Full program here. 60 Euros for a day pass, plus 15 Euros for certain events (noted below), and 10 Euros to get tickets online.

It looks like Sunday night will be the best time to go up there. For a taste of the lineup, here's who I'd love to see on Sunday:

5:00pm - 6:15pm - PWA Zaal - (E 15) Danish Radio Big Band with Ivan Lins and Toots Thieleman
7:00pm - 8:15pm - PWA Zaal - (E 15) Dee Dee Bridgewater
/
9:00pm - 10:00pm - PWA Zaal - (E 15) Hancock, Shorter, Holland, Blade
or
7:45pm - 9:15pm - Statenhal - James Brown
9:30pm - 10:45pm - Statenhal - Randy Brecker/Bill Evans Soulbop Band
10:30pm - 11:30pm - PWA Zaal - (E 15) Hancock, Shorter, Holland, Blade
\

Does anyone have any info on how to get to The Hague from Amersfoort? Could I take a train up in the afternoon and get a train back around midnight (in order to stay at the Campanile Sunday night)? Does anyone know the travel time to get to The Hague or have the train schedules?

Sorry for asking these RTFM questions (ie: that I could figure out myself), but time is tight, so if anyone happens to know, please post a reply. I'm worried time is limited to ge these tickets, so if you want to join me (if its even possible), please let me know. Thanks so much, and I hope you can join me.

Not to hot on the various spellings of Dutch cities in various languages, but if it's Den Haag in dutch, then there's a direct train at 15.57 that arrives at Den Haag a little less than an hour later. Same thing also an hour earlier (might be hourly?)

Looks to be a return train at 23:38 from Den Haag...

This is the site that I used to dig that out.

Have a look at the Dutch National railways site which should give you train times on the night. There is an English language button.

Pim Zandergen (pim on the board) was thinking of going since he had tickets.

Bear in mind that the NSJF is pretty much a rugby scrum these days, so be prepared!

If you are coming back late on the Sunday night you should be OK getting into the hotel as they have night staff: however, you'll probably have to get a taxi back from Amersfoort main station as a) the trains to Schothorst only run to about 11PM and b) we might all be too pissed to drive and pick you up

Thanks, thanks, and thanks. I also found that Urtecht is between Amersfoort and The Hague, and it's the rail central ternimal of The Netherlands. That may help me get a lift there.

Pim? Maybe I'll see him at the meet. (geez, I feel like a heritic for planning to miss the last half of Sunday's meet. but 7 hours of live jazz, man, I'm torn).

Thanks for the info.

Can we get a taxi from Schothorst to the Campanile at normal hours, i.e. we'll probably be alighting on to the red carpet, mid-afternoon, friday?

Well, I had to buy a 3 day pass since the 1 day ones are now sold out. Curses, that's the cost of not having enough time to book this on time.

So, does anyone want my Friday and Saturday pass to the North Sea Jazz Fest? Or does anyone know of anyone who does want them? Haha, or does anyone know a way to get them to anyone who wants them?

It was E 153 for the three day pass, so each day is E 51 (savings from the daily pass rate of E 60).
