Ok, this is just too cool. Today I received my new Dell Axim X50v and after 8 hours of waiting for the first charge, I finally got to play with it a little. The screen is gorgeous, for starters, and with a little app, I can put it into true VGA mode and browse the empeg board in 640x480. For typing, though, it's hard to use the tiny keyboard in that mode.

Anyway, the coolest of all is that right now, I am writing this entry on my new PDA while connected to the Sprint network via my bluetooth phone. I know there are people here who do that allready, but it's my first experience with it and I'm loving it.

I definitely can't wait to get a bluetooth keyboard, though, because this virtual keyboard can be a pain after a while.

Well, don't mind me, I'm just relishing my first playtime with a new toy. That's always great

Well, I haven't tested it, but it definitely seemed faster than dial-up. I'm still fiddling with it, though, as my phone is pretty flaky.

Where I'm at, on my Treo 650, Sprint DL speeds are ~80-110 kbps, tested at http://text.dslreports.com/mspeed . Enough to stream medium-bitrate Shoutcast streams reliably and still surf the web.

So you picked up the data plan? Did you get away with the "special rate"?

By the way, if anyone knows about any great deals for CF or SD cards, I'd love to see them. CF in particular, as I'll probably use one SD card for programs and store all my data on multiple CF cards.

Data plan is still in 2 month free trial. When that's over I'm going to try hard for the $10/month plan.

It cracks me up that buy.com always lists the "list price" and how much you are saving. I just ordered one of these with a "list price" of $699.99. I saved $627.04 by shopping at buy.com instead of another retailer! Isn't that great!

*shrug* I never even look at list prices, so I didn't notice. A deal is a deal, though.

Definately, and that is a great deal for the CF card.

As genixia pointed out in another thread, you're saving $419.96 on a Karma if you buy from them

Sorry, forgot about that. Thanks for the link, I'll try to take advantage of that. That's exactly what I'm using now, except that it's supposed to be in my camera

I got the HTC Harrier on the NZ Telecom EV-DO network, I must say having 350Kbps - 500Kbps speed at your fingertips anywhere is great, especially with a free 500MB dataplan from work :P

So, I called Sprint CS today to make sure I got signed up with PCS Vision before my 2 free months were up. When I asked the CS rep how much it cost to continue PCS Vision service, he said $15, but when I mentioned I had a friend who had it for $10, he said, indeed, there is a $10 plan (without the $5/month download credit) and was happy to give me that plan. In other words, they'd certainly like to charge you $15 and make you download $5 worth of crap to get back the $5, but the $10 plan isn't a "secret" either.

Now, there are rumors that whether that plan is available to each customer is a function of geography, years of service with Sprint, etc. but for me, all I needed to do was ask about the $10 plan to get it.

Wow, then that sounds more likely. I'll try calling them up sometime. They (or my bank) screwed up my auto pay service, so maybe I'll have some thing to work with

Thanks for following up!
