andym carpal tunnel Registered: 17/01/2002 Posts: 3995 Loc: Manchester UK	The subject says it all really, I'm getting really bad Samba performance on a couple of XServes at work. All my mac/linux clients I've moved over to NFS and seen massive speed and performance increases. The windows clients however are stuck with SMB for the time being. The only one I've found so far is NFSAXE which is a tad clunky. Commercial software is fine as long as it's not £100's per workstation (of which there are approx. 25). _________________________ Cheers, Andy M

Mmm.. actually, it really looks like a nearly full POSIX suite for Windows -- like maybe they took the Cygwin toolkit and repackaged it or something. andym carpal tunnel Registered: 17/01/2002 Posts: 3995 Loc: Manchester UK	SFU was a tad cryptic so I gave up! I ended up using a linux box to NFS mount to the XServe then serve the same directory using it's own samba server. Clunky but it worked..... and fast too! Anyways, it turns out the Samba performance problem was masking a fundamental issue with Windows Quicktime which resulted in segmented .dv files with a .mov wrapper not opening, the macs open them no problems...... So they've agreed to replace the windows machines with macs instead. Happy days!!!! _________________________ Cheers, Andy M
