I've searched to the best of my ability but have yet to find an answer to this. Is there any way to NOT print the header and footer of a web page when printing from Firefox running under OS X? It could be that I'm using a printer that is not directly supported under OS X, a Canon MP730. I'm using a third party driver (PrintFab) to print using this printer.

Thanks!

Not verified on a Mac:

Under the FireFox menus: File -> Page Setup -> Margins & Header/Footer

No such option exists, on my setup at least. Just orientation and page size.

EDIT: Here is a screen cap for the setttings I have:

Mmm.. and right you are. I dusted off my G3 and had a peek. The help for firefox printing says that "some options may not be available" on OS/X.

Bummer

Thanks for helping out! Can you check one more thing if you still have the G3 around? I can't turn off the header or footer with Safari either.....

Oh.. I've shut down my G3 now, but you could try looking in about:config for header and footer options. They are string types.. just null them out (empty strings).

Okay, confirmed.

In firefox, surf to about:config, and then type footer into the filter line.

Edit the three print.print_footer* option values to be completely blank. No more footers.

Do the same again with header as a filter line.

Cheers

For Safari:

File, Print. Click the pulldown that say "Copies & Pages" and select Safari. Uncheck header and footers.

Firefox is similar. The options are on a "Firefox" option in the same dropdown. OS X doesn't put much in Page Setup, it's almost all in the Print option.

This method works for me with Safari, but with Firefox I don't get the "Firefox" option:

EDIT: Hmm very strange. Now the "Firefox" option has appeared! Perhaps tinkering with the "about:config" settings fixed this?
