I have had no luck finding a replacement one of these for my tool box. The one in the picture is a 5/32"; the one I lost and wish to replace is a 4mm. It is a 1/4" hex drive allen wrench with 4mm tip. Never mind that 5/32" is 3.97mm and that the 5/32" one will work wherever I need the 4mm, the hole in my tool rack bugs me every time I open the box. See for yourself!! The stores I have tried either don't have it at all, or they want to sell me a $25 set to get the one piece I need. Anybody got one of these kicking around they don't want? tanstaafl.

Here: 2 for $3.02. Of course, you'll have to pay a lot for shipping. Maybe they have other stuff you'd want, though. Wiha makes high-quality stuff.

you'll have to pay a lot for shipping. Aaarrgggh. Shipping is three times the cost of the item. I'll do that as a last resort, but I'm hoping for something a bit more reasonable. IF the individual part were available locally, it would cost less than a dollar. $12.00 is a bit hard to swallow. BTW, how do you manage to find just about everything that anybody on this bbs ever wants? tanstaafl.

Those are rather commonplace here in Canada. But actually, I am in the Lufthansa lounge at Frankfurt right now, so it would be a few dazs (heh.. German kezboards on the Debian boxes they provide here) before I could post one to you.

I figured that you were going to pay too much for it as an individual piece, so you might as well get a good one, so Wiha came to mind. Then I just went straight to their site to see if they had an online retailer.

Dealextreme for a whole set (but cheap)? Won't be as high quality as a Wiha bit though.

Not sure what shipping would be, but page 2770 of www.mcmaster.com has 1/4" drive 4mm hex bits for $1.41 each.

I ordered it yesterday, holding my breath to see what the shipping charges will be. I requested that they tape it to a 3x5 note card and stick it in an envelope with a couple of stamps on it, but more likely they'll send it out with a $6--$10 UPS flat rate charge. tanstaafl.

Sure... Obsessive compulsi.... Oh, wait, sorry, I have to go re-arrange the eggs in the egg carton so they make a more symmetrical pattern. tanstaafl.

Wait. You don't rearrange the eggs every morning so that they spend an even amount of time near the cooling vents at the back of the fridge? Well, of course I do. Sheesh, what do you take me for, some kind of fool? On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I rotate each egg one position counterclockwise. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, I flip the whole group 180 degrees, from front to back. It would be easiest to just rotate the whole carton 180 degrees, but then the opening of the carton would be facing the wrong way. Can't have that! Sundays I leave them alone, but I make sure that on Monday mornings I eat the ones furthest away from the vent. Isn't that how everybody does it? tanstaafl.

Could have been worse... they are sending it UPS ground with $4.75 shipping charges. Why they couldn't just stick it in an envelope and mail it is beyond me. tanstaafl.

<innocent>But does the writing on the side match the others?
Oh, don't worry, I'm sure you'll never notice.
It's not like it'll gnaw at you as you lie in bed at night... </innocent>
