Ok, as I'm sure many of you on the board do, I have a cable modem on the ATTBI network. Now when i hook the empeg up to my hub I get one of there IP's on my empeg a 12.236.*.* , So when i connect to it, or download from it. I'm behind attbi's upload cap for some weird reason. So I'm only able to download songs at 30kb, and i am only able to upload them to the player from my system at 30kb.

Dose any one know how to get around this??

The dialup software may have a driver binded to your network card, just like my DSL does. In that case, it wouldn't be a surprise for you to be behind the DL/UL cap. I have 2 cards in the same machine, one for DSL and one for the hub, which is where I also hook in my empeg. Haven't had any trouble yet.

Attaching a seccond network card shouldn't be necessary as long as your version of windows can handle two different IP's on the same NIC. If it can, just set the empeg manually to a private range (10.x.x.x comes to mind) and set the seccond IP address of your computer in that range. This should route empeg traffic over your local lan.

I didn't think that was possible in any version of Windows.

It was/is in NT, and, I think, all of the NT descendants (that is, 2000). It might be possible in XP, but I've used XP approximately twice, so....

Yes, it is possible in 2000. Don't know about XP.
