Ok,I currently have the player connected via a 2nd nic card on computer using a fixed address. No problems there.
Now I recently got a laptop and installed a wireless router that is wired to my PC with the first nic card and wireless to the laptop. Both computers connect to internert and are networked together. Now i'd like to be able to connect to player with laptop.

Do I just plug player into an extra port on router, and change the network setting on player to automatic? Then do I set up emplode or jemplode for a network broadcast connection?

My wireless router allows me to use DHCP or static. I just configured my player as a static IP and just specified it in jemplode to connect to it, but I believe DHCP would work just as well.

Yes

Yes, assuming you have a DHCP server, which you do if you have your PCs set to automatically get an IP address.

You could. You can also get the empeg's IP address in the About menu if you want to use it specifically.

Well I seemed to have gotten everything working
Now a general networking question. How secure is the empeg and my computers being connected to the router verses the direct connection?

that probobly depends on your router and what kind of firewall is built into it. My linksys router nothing gets thru to the empeg that i know of. i dont have anything forwarded to it. Im sure someone else will chime in with more knowledgee but just thought id throw in my experience with it.
