I finally received my tuner kit. I was worse than a small child on Christmas morning! Alas, I did not receive an LM258N, but did receive two CA3140s. Must have been a mistake in packaging. My question is, I don't have any LM258Ns laying around. Would an LM358 be a drop in replacement?

Thanks,
Jeff

Functionally, yes, LM358 series is a drop in for the LM258. However, environmentally, the LM358N is only spec'd for 0 to 70 degrees Celsius - the LM258N is spec'd for -25 to 85 degrees.

To be jhonest I'd probably just chance it anyway. The worst that could happen is that it'd fail one cold morning and you'd have to replace it. I'd suggest putting a sticker on the box too - you know that if that if this ever did happen thus causing your tuner to die then Murphy's Law dictates that you'd have forgotten about this minor detail.
