I've recently purchased a Freelander (because I like them, okay?) and will soon be transferring my empeg. It has steering wheel controls for the stereo so I'm going to get a Sony Stalk Adapter to plug via the tuner. The car also has a dashboard display which shows radio and CD info. The adapters that are available are for stalk only or for display and stalk. I take it that there is no point going for the dual option (and much more expensive) as the empeg will only receive commands and no information is sent that I would see on the dashboard display? I'm not sure at the moment if the adapter is 2 outputs or one etc. I'm hoping to find out more on Monday but was wondering if anyone had had any similar experiences?

HAHAHA! I actually like the Ford Escape for what it is, but I think the Freelander version looks way better. I would go for the Freelander too!

Sorry I have no input for your question. It would be awesome to be able to use the stock display though.

I've changed from an Alpha Romeo Spider to the Freelander and BOY are they different. As you would expect. It'll take a bit of getting used to the totally different ride - very spongy on the corners and the seat not as 'hugging'. I do like the higher position and the feeling of ruggedness. I think I'm regressing through a mid-lfe crisis.

Back to the original theme - I'm just not sure of the limitations of the display and what I would actually want it to do. What would be really cool is lyrics or just graphics on my player and the track info on my display. Somehow, though, I don't think it is an option.

LOL!

I guess it's just something I have to get out of my system. I've always wanted one. The Alfa is great to drive but there are so so many annoying things about it.

OK, here's an update but I guess it really belongs in the installation section now.

I got my local car audio 'specialist' to put my amp in the Freelander this weekend. I have since also installed my player. After the 'specialists' jerked me around so much on the stalk connector I got my local auto bits trader to order me a stalk only connector. This arrived today and I have now added this to my set-up. It worked straight off giving me volume up/down and previous/next track. There is a 'mode' button on the steering column but not sure if this works. I don't think it will but I'll have a play.

The cable is a Connects2 SRVS001. It's a lot of money and a lot of cable for such a simple requirement. As if there wasn't already enough cables in behind the empeg.

The volume knob has been having problems with the button press ever since I had the light kit fitted. I took this as an opportunity to file it down and in the process have changed my colour scheme to a smoked lens and green buttons. Looks nice.

I may post some pictures in the installation section soon.
