Has anyone succesfully gotten SP-DIF out of the Empeg?
I'm getting a little analog noise in my BMW, it's acceptable with the gains down on the amp, but I'd like a little more headroom.

Seems silly to be running analog signals anymore.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on implementation?
I've read that there is some sort of pins that are not connected on the main board that could produce SP-DIF.
Also, USB to SP-DIF exists, but I imagine they include Windows only drivers?
How about Ethernet?
Thanks, for your help.

USB to SP-DIF probably requires USB host support, and the empeg is slave only.

Roger - not necessarily speaking for empeg

The outputs on the Mark2 should be very clean, provided that your installation is done properly. You shouldn't need SPDIF outputs to get clean sound out of the Empeg. Have you read this FAQ entry?

I'm sure they are clean. However preserving that noise free signal across a BMW is next to impossible. The engineers at BMW apparently gave up on it and ran all the audio signals differentially.
If the empeg had differential line outs that would be fine also. But seems like digital would be easier.

The Mk 1 was differential drive. There's a fair number of them popping up for sale at the moment.

Anyone heard of USB-One-the-Go?
I received the following message in a PDA newsletter. Unfortunately the link is damaged or broken, but it seems to indicate that there will be possibilities for peer-to-peer USB.

There have been true embedded USB host controllers (non-PCI) around for at least a year, though. The USB-on-the-go spec just seems to be to drum up some publicity for this chipmaker...
