i recently decided to upgrade the HD in one of my mk2a players and the only builder i could d/l was the one from the empeg support website. marks builder link didn't work and neither did the other one.

i am adding an 80 gig travelstar to a fujitsu 30 gig and tried the regular builder but i get an error message "cannot find pump"
i was wondering if the builder is the problem because of the large drive? also wondering if someone could fix the link or would be able to send me the builder for larger drives?

thanks.

I believe the links are now in the drive upgrade guide.

It looks like Mark's web server may not be up at the moment though.

lemme dig around and see if I can find it.

EDIT: Nope...looks like I haven't downloaded it on this computer yet. If someone has it and would like me to host it at riocar.net, just pm me.

Due to some confusion with the local telco, our xDSL line disappeared last Friday. It should hopefully be reactivated later this week, though.

Meanwhile, I believe I have the 2.3MByte builder_bigdisk.upgrade file here with me, if anyone has a server for me to upload it to.

Cheers

I PM'd meatballman with a location that I have the files hosted if he wanted to grab them for riocar.net. They're here if anyone needs them while Mark gets his DSL sorted-out.

Also available at riocar.net/files.

I got the domain long ago so that I could redirect it to riocar.org. Maybe it'll actually be useful now.

Everything but the disk builder points to the same file (2.01 final).

You definitely need the bigdisk builder. Sorry that Mark's web site was down when you needed it the most. It's critical you use a builder that will handle large drives, in order to prevent problems with the big disk.

HOWEVER... I'm not convinced that the reason you're getting "cannot find pump" has anything to do with the disk size or which image you're using. I'm pretty sure if you had a size issue, it would get past that stage of the builder and only show you errors later. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong?)

So I think that you may have another problem to solve while you try to scare up a bigdisk builder image. Click here for information on the pump error.

Oops. Too much copying and pasting and not enough thinking. Fixed.

Top man! I just wish I'd checked this part of the forum a few hours ago, d'oh.

Although I've just partitioned my new drive using Roger's guide, I'm not 100% certain that I didn't miss something while flitting from the instruction on my Windows PC, to the job in-hand on the Kubuntu PC that has the new empeg drive attached. To cover my arse (so to speak) I think I should run Mark's builder.

Crap! I *thought* they were supposed to be mirrored somewhere else, I looked on riocar.org, I didn't know to look on riocar.net. I'm mindful that this drive upgrading affair is a bit of a moving target ATM, relatively speaking. Do we need to speak kindly to the FAQ robot about adding riocar.net to the excellent Drive Upgrade Guide?

Mostly I think somebody should put them on RioCar.Org, as I've suggested in the past.

I think Error 53 means that you didn't fully unzip the entire logoedit package. You must unzip all the files, not just the main logoedit.EXE. It's looking for the separate EXE that it calls out to in order to actually perform the upload.

If I recall correctly. It's been a while.

If you used the bigdisk upgrader, then your player already has Hijack on it, which might save some trouble here..

that was the problem!

i used the 2.01 from the empeg software page because in the upgrade guide it said to use the 2.01 for large disks if you had over 160gb (mine is 110).

just a rookie mistake. on to the next empeg!

thanks for all the help.
