This is the sync error I have been getting randomly while sending songs to my empeg via USB (stage 5, 0xfffff768). I just finished emploding about 7 CDs worth of MP3s and I had this error 4 times. The error seems to pop up when emplode finishes with one file and then tries to move onto the next - the empeg resets itself and then I get the error message. I can only get about a 15 to 20 file transfer going before the sync error hits.

I am using Beta Release 10a (along with emplode 10a) on a Win98se USB system. The system is an Athlon based/Abit KA7 mobo/256 MB PC133 ram (VIA 133 chipset) running most current drivers.

Any suggestions for this one?

Okay, brought my empeg to work with me and hooked it up to my work computer (via USB) - an IBM Pentium II machine running Windows 2000 Pro w/64 MB ram. Installed emplode beta 10a and began transfering MP3s. I started a transfer and received a sync error upon completion (different from my original - same as the one dionysus reported earlier, same situation) stage 9, 0xfffff92. So I re-booted the empeg and proceeded to transfer over 100 MP3s without *any* sync errors!

I have a feeling my setup at home is a little screwy. I've gone through a few motherboard swaps recently and I may have some conflicting drivers hosing up the works. I will do a fresh install of Win98 and try again.

Stay tuned...

Completed a fresh install of Win 2000 on my home system along with emplode beta 10a (no addtional programs installed). So far no sync errors! YES!

Don't know if anyone else has noticed this but USB transfers to the empeg using Windows 2000 is faster then using Windows 98! Using Windows 2000 (Emplode beta 10a) it takes me about 10 - 12 seconds for me to transfer a 5 meg MP3 file. The same file under Windows 98 takes about 22 - 24 seconds!! I tried this on two different computer systems with the same results.

I can confirm that USB transfers using Win2k on my PC are also about twice as fast as using Win98 (in fact serial transfers are also noticably faster on Win2k). I also saw most of my sync errors disappear when I moved to Win2k (I almost never get an error with the latest release).
