You want to know the scary thing, I have seen this done with an 8" floppy. Afterwards it was formatted and worked, although nothing important was put onto it, just in case.

Admittedly, the print pattern was set to avoid the holes in the cover, but still - not bad amusement. And it did leave us with much more interesting placemats.
