I think it would be safe as long as you match the voltage and polarity of the wall wart. I used mine in a rental car for a week and would pause the player instead of turning it off due to it's inability to restart in the same position and when you turn it off. The battery would last the whole day and then some. One day I had it going for about 10 hours until it died so I wouldn't bother with the power adaptor.
