I don't have an empeg (yet!), but I'll be buying one when I get a new car next summer. In the mean time, I'm going to try to catch up on all the ideas here on the BBS.

When I read that the MkII has ethernet, the first thing that came to mind was to see if that was passed through in the docking connector.

What I'd like to do is what you're planning... take an RJ45, break the clip off and maybe file down the sides (so it's an easier fit). Then I plan to run cat5 from the docking bay to an easily accessable RJ45 port. That way, I can take my laptop and jack it in to the ethernet port on the dash.
