Well, my Empeg never sold. Thanks, Paul, for pointing out the fact that there are other Empegs up for auction at the main Ebay.com site -- it hadn't occured to me to look there before.

I've relisted mine with a starting price of £400 (no reserve, like before). This is really the lowest price I can go and I'm kissing goodbye to the chance of coming out with any money leftover since that's how much my alternative solution cost. I spent all my savings on getting the new player because I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to hate myself for selling the Empeg. At the time, I thought I wouldn't have any problem selling the Empeg but it turns out there's a lot less demand than I anticipated. Oh well, you live and learn!
